Begun as a modest small-holding in 1970, Baytree nurseries and garden centre is the place where both the specialist and beginner can explore every aspect of gardening and garden life in an impressive complex ranging over 30 acres.

The sheer scale and diversity of this garden centre and nursery are truly impressive. It is laid out as a series of delightful surprises, with changing exhibitions and attractions of interest to all the family. Baytree is famous for its roses, with over 250 varieties from hybrid teas to floribundas, ramblers, climbers, miniatures, groundcover, patio and standards. The owl centre boasts one of Britain's largest and most varied collections of owls from around the world.

The undercover flying arena is one of Europe's largest, with seating for more than 100 people, where visitors can enjoy an educational and exciting display of these noble birds. Recognised as a breeding centre for the Republic of South Africa, the owl centre now includes a hospital unit for the treatment of sick and injured owls and birds of prey, funded by donations from the public and businesses.

Falconry accessories from the 'tu whit tu whoo' gift shop. Owl centre open daily 9.30 - 5.30 (winter 9.30-4) admission £2.50 (OAPs and children 4-16 £2.00). Among the superlative centre's many other features are its extensive pets and aquatic centre, bulb land (with the most comprehensive range of bulbs in the country), florist shop, mower sales and service centre, nature garden, display garden and play garden.

Among the many quality items for sale are garden tools, garden furniture, outdoor plants and a range of barbecues. The licensed hop in restaurant serves wholesome country food, from sandwiches and full roast dinners.
