Daisy Nook
Garden Centre
Founded in 1973, Daisy Nook Garden Centre
was the brainchild of a local doctor, Mr Richard Calder.
Working as manager of the centre, he took over as owner in
1985, and has totally rebuilt, refurbished and expanded the
centre over the intervening years.
Today, in addition to the excellent range of
trees, shrubs, flowering and foliage plants, groundcover, herbs
and more, the centre also boasts an unusual range of alpines
and dwarf conifers. The centre prides itself on its wide
selection of roses, which includes miniatures and shrub
roses.
All roses come with a two year guarantee.
Covering 5 acres and set in picturesque countryside, with the
river Medlock running through it, the centre features extensive
display gardens including professionally designed water
features. The handsome furniture department has a comprehensive
range of wood, resin and plastic furniture for the garden or
conservatory.
The new houseplant department was awarded
winner of the 1998 houseplant competition for the northwest
region by the GCA. This welcoming and interesting garden centre
also features a dedicated patio department, while the onsite
coffee shop is just the place to relax and enjoy a hot drink
and a hot or cold snack or meal, all freshly prepared.
Outdoor garden centre manager Paul Tyler
gives regular talks on-site on a variety of topics of interest
to every gardener, from the novice to the most experienced.
