Woodlands Nurseries

Woodlands nurseries started as a one-acre tomato nursery in the 1970s. Today. the biggest garden centre in the East Midlands occupies an 18-acre site and boasts one of the largest covered sales areas in the uk. As the name suggests, there is more to this business than simply selling garden products. A modern 4 1/2 acre production facility supplies quality plant material which is always nursery fresh.

This means there is a wide range of plant varieties, in plentiful supply and grown by an enthusiastic team. Plants abound the moment customers enter the large car park. Woodlands has developed a strong business in plant sales. Hardy outdoor plants, herbaceous perennials and annuals are major lines. Hanging baskets and seasonal plants are a speciality.

There is an all-year-round houseplant department which creates superb planted arrangements. Gardening sundries and accessories include compost, fertiliser, containers, tools, stoneware and other ornamental items. Seasonal lines include bulbs, seeds and bird care. Recently introduced is a range of quality timber products. One of our newest areas to be included is for conservatory, patio and garden furniture, plus barbecues.

Gardening should be relaxed as well as enjoyable, and there is a wide range to suit all tastes. A selection of gas and charcoal barbecues will inspire al fresco dining with family and friends. Carefully chosen ceramics, glassware, candles and basket ware are amongst the popular gift items. A recently introduced bookshop offers a wide choice for all ages. The floral department boasts superb replicas of flowers, fruits and foliage plants, together with accessories to create stunning arrangements and displays.

Perhaps the most interesting feature of this centre is the annual Christmas decorations display. Every year the skilled staff create a magical spectacle which appeals to all ages. In the autumn of 1999, a new restaurant is due to open on the site. This will complete a shopping experience which is not to be missed.
